Round Top Wedding Photographer
Joseph West is a Texas film wedding photographer who takes a small number of commissions a year and travels for roughly half of them — across the Hill Country and far West Texas. He works in medium-format film and digital, by appointment. Round Top — its barns, its open fields, the long golden light — is exactly the kind of place this practice was built to photograph.

I photograph weddings the way I'd want my own remembered — on film, unhurried, paying attention to the things that pass quickly. I take only a handful of commissions each year, and I travel for about half of them; recent years have taken me to Marfa, Turks & Caicos, Cabo, and Vail. Round Top sits squarely in the kind of work I built this practice around: a Texas place with its own light and its own pace, worth slowing down for.
Why Round Top photographs the way it does
Round Top is a tiny town in Fayette County that empties and fills with the seasons — quiet most of the year, then alive with the antique fairs. For a wedding it gives you the things film loves most: weathered barns, open fields, and a low Hill Country light that turns gold for the last hour before sunset. The venues couples ask me about — Liesel Farm, Windy Knoll, Jardin de France — each trade on that same combination of rough texture and soft light, which is exactly the contrast that medium-format film renders better than anything else.
How I'd approach your Round Top wedding
A Round Top wedding rewards couples who plan around the light rather than the clock — a ceremony timed to that golden last hour, portraits in the fields while it holds, a reception that lets the barn and the dark do the rest. I'd shoot it on film and digital both, stay out of the way, and bring back something that feels like the day actually felt. If that's the wedding you're imagining, I'd love to hear about it.
