Houston, since 2010.
Joseph West photographs weddings from a small practice in Houston. Twelve commissions a year, mostly on film, across Texas and occasionally further.
A small practice, on purpose.
One photographer, by appointment. Twelve weddings a year, so each one gets the whole of the day: the morning in the room, the vows, the long table, the last dance.
Mostly film, developed and scanned at Richard Photo Lab in Los Angeles, with digital alongside where the light or the schedule asks for it. Nothing rushed.
With Melissa.
Melissa is Joseph's wife and business partner. They have worked weddings together long enough to know how a day really moves, and how to stay quiet inside it.
At home there are two small ones, River and Ruby.
Editorial, across Texas.
Elopements in Marfa, ballrooms in Houston, weekends in San Miguel de Allende. The commissions run from an afternoon with the two of you to a weekend with everyone you know.
Between weddings, a small number of editorial commissions across Texas.
Twelve a year. Write a few lines about the day.
